Posted by Sarah Ness on 12/11/2018

It is an exciting time to be part of STEM Forward! Yesterday the White House released their five-year plan for STEM education. Many of the goals and strategies outlined in this document have been on STEM Forward’s radar and embedded in our recently updated mission, vision, and strategies.  The brilliant minds of our STEM Forward partners have been a head of the curve on addressing the trajectory of STEM education in K-12 schools in southeast Minnesota. Kudos! View the report here.

STEM Forward announces the highly anticipated Outstanding Educator Award recipient(s) and nominees this week! This highly coveted award celebrates our educators and community stakeholders that foster high K-12 student achievement, exhibit leadership and support for continuous improvement, promote science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) careers, and demonstrate collaboration among K-12 schools, businesses and higher education. These STEM leaders share their outstanding practices with other communities at the Spring Educator Forum, to grow the number of educators providing high-quality STEM education thus increasing STEM literacy throughout the region. Nominees and winners will be announced on December 14, 2018 here! Save the date and your seat for this event!

February is two months away, but STEM Forward has been planning something big! Summit big! Join us on February 11, 2018 in Chatfield or February 12, 2018 in Zumbrota for the first annual Career Pathways Summit. This event helps K-12 educators from across the region understand work-based learning models from others who have successful programs and provides team planning time to work through an individual districts goals, needs, and resources with the help of our panelists as mentors.  This is an early step in creating career pathway programs in our region.  Future events will include engaging with businesses to collaborate in the newly created programs.  Register for Chatfield or Zumbrota events.
