Position Opening - School Social Worker Regional Coordinator

Position Overview: This is a new position that provides training and consultation support to school district staff and others who are supporting children that have emotional, social, or family issues that are interfering with academic achievement or personal well-being. This position is funded through a Minnesota Department of Health grant to the Minnesota Service Cooperatives and will be hired through June 30, 2023. There is potential for an ongoing assignment based on success of the pilot work. This is a year-round, full-time position, requiring flexibility in work schedule and location, as this position serves multiple school districts in southeast Minnesota. Mileage and expenses are reimbursable. Specific areas of work include:

Regional Program Coordination:

  • Develop, promote, and provide professional development to school staff, students, and potentially parents and community members.
  • Work with school personnel and other agencies as an advocate for mental health and wellness and promotes better understanding of educational and personal needs.
  • Collaborate with children, parents, teachers, case managers, and other professionals to provide consistent intervention for children and works as a school liaison between the school and outside agencies on behalf of the school and/or family/child.
  • Engage families for the purpose of providing student supports.
  • Explore, develop, and leverage regional assets and resources to support system and structure improvements in school mental health services.
  • Research proven solutions and best practice models being implemented successfully and conduct focus groups to determine what might improve regional response to increasing mental health concerns in the school setting.
  • Participate in conferences and meetings with parents, teachers, administrators, area professionals, and children.
  • Maintain appropriate documentation of activities.

Mental Health Student Screening Program:

  • Work with team to understand and promote the solution to schools.
  • In partnership with other staff, act as liaison with participating schools to determine additional assessment questions, ensure device content is loaded, ensure on-site requirements are met, gather the student information required, and schedule dates for school engagements for the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT+) initial mental health screener.
  • Coordinate support including onsite assistance and training of school staff on the day of SBIRT+ administration.
  • Collaborate on grant writing and sponsorship activities.
  • Develop and maintain metrics to measure success and growth as well as determine ongoing student support needs.

Statewide Networking:

  • Collaborate on the development of information and training materials.
  • Participate in statewide meetings with other regional mental health staff.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, or similar, required.
  • Licensed Graduate Social Worker (LGSW), Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), or Licensed School Social Worker (LSSW) required.
  • Moderate experience in a job-related field.
  • Valid Driver’s License.

Compensation: Salary and benefits commensurate with Southeast Service Cooperative compensation guidelines based primarily on education and experience, with a range between $65,000 and $80,000 plus benefits package.
