School Health Supports
Mental health is a state of well-being in which the individual realizes their own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to their community (World Health Organization).
The new year brings new opportunities! A lot of people spend this time focusing on getting physically well, and that includes being mentally well too! It can bring on a wide range of emotions: excitement, anticipation, anxiety and worry. Finding an accountability partner, whether to help keep those physical fitness goals kept, or to check-in on emotional well-being, can be a great, informal resource.
At SSC, we are dedicated to equipping our region with the supports needed to promote mental health in our schools, businesses and local government. There are staff and faculty that are ready to help you meet your goals! Whether you are looking for ideas, training, or solutions, don’t hesitate to reach out.

Youth Mental Health First Aid ... At Your School Site!
Youth Mental Health First Aid (YMHFA) is a skills-based training that teaches parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors and health and human services workers and any other adult how to identify, understand and respond to an adolescent (ages 12-18) who may be experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge.
If you would like to host a Youth Mental Health First Aid training at your school or site, please contact SSC to work out the details.
