Long-Range Facility Planning

In partnership with ISG, an architecture, engineering, environmental, and planning firm, SCC is positioned to better serve its public and private school districts, cities, counties, and other organizations in the 11-county southeast region of Minnesota. Backed by in-house, multi-disciplinary experts, ISG offers long-range facility planning services tailored to your unique needs.
Areas of Expertise
Facilities Assessment
A comprehensive facilities assessment is a road map to understanding the life expectancy and costs of major repair items needed to maintain facilities. With a focus on holistic analysis, efficiency, and maximum return on investment, ISG collaborates with clients to prioritize cost-effective, short- and long-term solutions that offer the most value. ISG develops recommendations that are appropriate for the priorities, size, and scale of each client.
Educational Adequacy Assessment (EAA)
The ISG EAA report includes a review of the existing spaces within each facility including classrooms, entrances, lobbies, corridors, and common spaces. ISG evaluates the school district’s current activities room-by-room with the physical space required for each activity. This information will be carefully reviewed to provide an analysis of the effectiveness of current space usage to support student learning and education delivery, highlighting areas with insufficient capacity to meet current and future needs.
Capacity + Enrollment
Educational facilities must accommodate today’s youth and be flexible enough to allow for continual reorganization. Whether implementing 21st century design elements, such as flexible classrooms and innovation labs to advanced technology and safety/security features, ISG offers creative and cost-effective solutions while paying attention to sustainable design, Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance, and safety/security features for users of varying ages and abilities.
Financial Analysis + Funding
ISG’s designated team of grant and funding professionals provide essential services to identify, target, and plan for funding and grant opportunities. Using a layered and creative approach that incorporates timing, in-kind and matching funding, and public/private partnerships, the team researches funding sources to identify opportunities at local, state, and federal levels, ultimately creating a unique funding strategy that will cater to each District's project needs.
Pre-Referendum Services
The ISG approach to referendum planning begins with a strategic roadmap. Using this framework, ISG engages in an interactive process with District leadership, key stakeholders, the School Board, and the community. No one knows the building better than the users, including staff, students, parents, and community members. From focus groups to surveys and informational, regularly updated websites, ISG meets with community members where they are to hear ideas and ensure everyone can provide input. Finding practical and forward-thinking solutions tailored to meet District needs—and clearly conveying this information to voters—will ultimately lead to success.
