Project Consultant - Multilingual Learner Curriculum (Freelance/Contract)

This fully remote contract position supports the expansion of Project Momentum’s Curriculum Overlay series, which integrates language development with grade-level content standards. Project Consultants contribute to the design, development, and refinement of overlays that help teachers make grade-level instruction more accessible and language-rich for multilingual learners. This position is ideal for experienced educators with a deep understanding of both WIDA English Language Development Standards and state content standards (e.g., ELA, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics). Contractors will collaborate with Project Momentum staff to create, review, and pilot overlay materials aligned to identified grade-level bands and content areas.

This position is fully remote and contract-based. Work hours are flexible, with timelines established per project. Contractors must have reliable internet access and the ability to participate in virtual meetings.

Curriculum Design and Development: Contribute to the creation or revision of Curriculum Overlays aligned to WIDA language and state content standards. Identify instructional strategies and develop instructional scaffolds, vocabulary supports, classroom visuals, student texts, and assessments that promote integrated content–language learning. Ensure overlays align with Project Momentum frameworks, including grade-level expectations, language-development dimensions, and equity-centered design principles.

Standards Alignment and Integration: Analyze and map content standards to WIDA 2020 English Language Development Standards. Write clear, measurable language objectives and language supports. Review drafts to ensure linguistic accuracy, developmental appropriateness, and fidelity to both language and content standards.

Collaboration and Review: Participate in virtual collaboration sessions with other overlay developers, instructional leads, and reviewers. Provide constructive feedback on peer drafts and incorporate revisions based on team and leadership feedback. Engage in shared document management through Google Workspace.

Optional Contributions (Based on Interest): Pilot overlays in your own classroom or instructional setting and provide implementation feedback. Support educator-facing tools such as reflection prompts or training materials.

Education and Experience Required: Valid teaching license in ESL/EL/ELD and/or core content area (Elementary, ELA, Science, Social Studies, Mathematics). Dual licensure preferred. Minimum of three years of teaching, coaching, or curriculum design experience with multilingual learners. Experience designing curriculum or instructional materials that promote language development within grade-level content learning.

Qualifications and Skills Required: 

  • Deep understanding of WIDA English Language Development Standards and state academic standards.
  • Skilled in designing integrated content–language instruction for multilingual learners.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with attention to clarity, consistency, and audience appropriateness.
  • Proficient with Google Workspace
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet project deadlines while working independently.
  • Collaborative mindset, responsive to feedback, and comfortable contributing to iterative design processes.
