• Mental health is a state of well-being in which the individual realizes their own abilities, can cope with the normal stresses of life, can work productively and fruitfully, and is able to make a contribution to their community (World Health Organization).

The new year brings new opportunities! A lot of people spend this time focusing on getting physically well, and that includes being mentally well too! It can bring on a wide range of emotions: excitement, anticipation, anxiety and worry. Finding an accountability partner, whether to help keep those physical fitness goals kept, or to check-in on emotional well-being, can be a great, informal resource.

At SSC, there are staff and instructors that are ready to help you meet your goals! Whether you are looking for ideas, training, or solutions, don’t hesitate to reach out.

    Training Highlight:

Adult Mental Health First Aid-is a skills-based training that teaches people how to identify, understand and respond to signs and symptoms of a mental health or substance use challenge in adults ages 18 and over. The training runs approximately 8 hours with content and activities.

If you would like to host an Adult Mental Health First Aid training at your workplace, please feel free to contact Cheryl Wendt, the Mental Health Program Coordinator, at cwendt@ssc.coop or 507-273-9730 to work out the details.

At SSC, we are dedicated to equipping our region with the supports needed to promote mental health in our schools, businesses and local government.
